The Mladějov industrial railway – the Industrial Museum, Mladějov

Come and see the history of the Mladějov industrial railway. The popular trips on the Mladějov narrow gauge railway will take you back in time to when coal and fireclay were transported in this manner. This involves a line dating from the end of the First World War, which performed its function until the end of 1991. The unique narrow gauge track is still serviced by a steam locomotive that has been preserved in good condition. The fate of the narrow gauge railway hung by thread when plans for it to be closed and replaced with a regular road were initially approved. Luckily, this did not come to pass and it is still possible to see this technical reminder of a bygone era today. It is a good idea to also stop in at the Industrial Museum in Mladějov in order to complete the tour.

You can ride in a small train pulled by an original steam locomotive on the narrow gauge track. The trips take place according to the timetable at times that are announced in advance. A wide variety of domestic events is also often organised by the Mladějov industrial railway. The Industrial Museum, with a wide-ranging exhibition mainly focusing on the railway, is located not far from the narrow gauge railway. However, it also includes road, agricultural and construction technology. A number of the exhibits were literally saved from being thrown away and scrapped. However, sensitive repairs have made it possible to create a truly extensive collection, where lovers of technology can also see the kinds of machines that cannot be seen elsewhere. The museum is located in the spacious former facility of the fireclay works in Mladějov. It is open every day except Mondays, while its opening hours on Saturdays are linked to the operation of the railway. It is easy to get to Mladějov by train or by car. A sufficiently large car park has been constructed within the vicinity of the museum and it is possible to park their free of charge. Buses only run on work days.
